National Conference 2018

Hosted by Kahui Wahine ki Te Taitokerau

Some of our ladies (pictured left) from Tairawhiti attended the Kahui Wahine national conference, which took place over the 13-16 September 2018.

Kia u, kia ngawari - Ephesians 4

A full delegation representation from Tūranga travelled to the National Kahui Wahine Conference, hosted by Te Taitokerau in Waitangi. We give thanks for Archbishop Don & Kisa for supporting our ropu. The conference was well attended, with over 125 wahine from across Te Pihopatanga o Aotearoa & Ahitereiria. The theme "Kia ū, kia ngāwari", was coined from Ephesians 4 'Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.'

The programme included the history of the gospel landing in Aotearoa, walking to Marsden Cross, a significant, spiritual wāhi in Oihi Bay, Minita-a-Whanau, Maori Women's Welfare League and tapping techniques to release stress.

During the Amorangi reports, Kira touched on some things our wahine have been involved in, including assisting and leading church services, tangihanga, volunteering for soup kitchens, bible study groups, starting a choir, and chaplaincy.

The next conference is being hosted by Te Waipounamu in 2021 (postponed due to Covid-19). If you are interested in being a part of Kahui Wahine, please call Kira on (06) 867-8856.
